English 11:  The students were given their Beowulf test review, and were assigned six short response questions to answer with two paragraphs each.  We will discuss the review tomorrow, and begin watching parts of Robert Zemeckis’s film interpretation of Beowulf.

English 9:  The students finished reading “The Most Dangerous Game,” and began working on the post-reading questions.

English 11:  The students read an excerpt from Venerable Bead’s historical narrative A History of the English Church and People.  The students worked with a partner and began working on the post-reading questions, which we will discuss tomorrow.  The students will have a test review covering Beowulf tomorrow, and will be taking their test on Thursday.

English 9:  The students continued reading “The Most Dangerous Game.”  We will finish reading Connell’s short story tomorrow.  The students will have a test review covering the story Thursday and take their test on Friday.

English 11:  The students completed and discussed the post-reading questions for Beowulf (chapters 7 and 8.)  We will have a quiz covering the final two chapters of Beowulf tomorrow, and take our test on Wednesday.

English 9:  The students continued reading Richard Connell’s short story “The Most Dangerous Game.”  We will finish the story tomorrow and complete/discuss the post-reading questions.

English 11:  The students took their quiz covering the first six chapters of Beowulf.  Afterwards, the students finished reading Beowulf (chapters “The Death of Beowulf” and “Mourning Beowulf.”)  We began the post-reading questions, and will finish and review them on Monday.

English 9:  The students took their quiz covering the beginning of “The Most Dangerous Game.”  Afterwards, the students began working on their D.E.A.R. book assignment.  They are to choose one of the following: illustrate one scene or major event that has occured in your book so far, create a collage of events or scenes, or create a comic strip of an event(s) that have occured (all completed on white printer paper.)  Each illustration must be colored, and on the back of the paper, the students are to write one paragraph description of what event they illustrated on the front.  This is homework for the students that did not finish in class today.

English 11:  The students completed their grammar work covering Objects of Verbs, and read the chapter “Beowulf’s Last Battle.”  We will finish reading Beowulf tomorrow and have our first quiz.

English 9:  The students finished their grammar work covering Verbs.  We also continued reading Connell’s “The Most Dangerous Game,” and will finish it tomorrow.
